Blake Has Pneumonia

I took Blake to the doctor yesterday morning. He has had an upper respiratory cold for almost 3 weeks now and it just wasn't getting better. Dr. Wilson diagnosed him with bronchiolitis and sent us home with some albuterol for his cough. Funny thing, Riley had bronchiolitis at the same age. Later that evening B was sound pretty "junky" and his cough was more "moist" than it had been. I pulled out my stethoscope (my "doctor" as Riley calls it. Every time he puts my stethoscope in his ears I call him Dr. Riley. I think this is where he came up with calling it "doctor") and listened to Blake. His lungs sounded terrible! I decided to go ahead and take him down to the ER to be looked at. We got there and his respirations were 56 (which is TOO fast for those not medically inclined). As we were walking back to our room one of the doctors I work with stopped us and asked why we were there. Dr. Houston listened to Blake's lungs and said to me, "He has pneumonia". I, of course, told him he was wrong. I really believed that he did but what mother wants their child to have pneumonia, especially a mom who is an ER nurse? Well, he got a chest Xray and there it was, in his left lower lobe, A PNEUMONIA!!!! I felt like mother of the year. I can't believe I put off taking him to the doctor for so long. Blake is such a good baby; never once did he act very fussy or decrease his intake which are both common for sick babies to do. We went home around midnight (a 3 hour visit, not bad at all) after an initial dose of antibiotics. Blake was so sleepy! I don't think I slept at all last night. I know I kept one ear open listening to him breath.
